And Now… A Pictorial Interlude

April 2, 2023

I’m sharing my magical COW (condo on wheels) ride with a good-looking man bursting with creative energy. When unburdened by everyday living, he releases his creativity in unbridled torrents through cooking, sketching, and photography.

He sends me his pictures. I admire them. He muses on the colors, the shapes, the meaning of the pieces that make the picture whole. And then we go back to what we were doing. And the pictures vaporize into the iCloud.

I thought I’d capture a few of them in the blog and share Jay’s thoughts. Welllllllll, since this blog is for friends and family, you all know Jay. As soon as he becomes aware his words are being recorded, it’s as if he were suddenly a defendant on the stand at a murder trial. Every… word… is… painfully… extracted…and… thoughtfully… chosen…with… much… effort…and… the… creative… spigot… closes. And… so… the captions are… short 😉

“The sun’s first light in between the clouds.”
“The morning’s second sunrise as the sun emerged from the clouds again.”
“And the sunrise continues…”
“The vibrant colors – blue and orange – caught my eye.”
“The cool morning left the flowers limping, but the sun is on its way!”
“Just using a different lens created this vision.”
“And the flowers come alive!”
“Frankie enjoying the night sky.”
“Pixie dust sparkles over Tinkerbell.”
“I caught the Big Dipper!”

nd now, we close out with the picture I use as our avatar. It makes me smile every time I see it. Not just because the picture is fun, but because of the smells, sights and sounds it brings forth in my Swiss cheese of memories.

Our granddaughter came to visit us in Tucson a few years ago. Jay had just returned from a morning bike ride and he took her to a neighbor’s house to pick fresh grapefruits from the trees lining their yard. When they returned home with their rather hefty citrus haul, we pondered, “What will we do with so many grapefruits?”

The smell of fresh citrus filled the air. It was heavenly.

Being the perennial good sport, Jay allowed me to come up with a solution for at least two grapefruits… and posed as any proud grandpa would…causing our 10-year-old granddaughter to burst into peals of uncontrollable laughter! It was a memory I will always cherish.
